Sudden soreness breastfeeding 15 month old

I've been fortunate enough to breastfeed this far without any trouble but now have a lot of soreness in one nipple - it's sore for the first few minutes when my baby latches on, and then sore after the feed is finished. It looks fairly ok except perhaps slightly pinker/redder than the other one and there's one whitish mark right on the tip of my nipple, a bit like a spot which can't be squeezed.

Any ideas what's happening? It doesn't help that he's teething right now and wants to comfort-feed waaaaaay more than normal...

Their latch changes as they get older, and they can also become more acrobatic around this age Grin and that can affect the latch. Sometimes you have to remind them to sit still, take in a nice big mouthful of breast and stop trying to look around while they are feeding.

The white spot sounds like it could be a bleb. Blocked ducts can sometimes happen too, how are things looking for you?

Thanks. After googling blebs (new word for me!) I'm certain that's what it is. I've been doing hot compresses before feeds and, although still toe-curling when he first latches on, it's getting less painful overall.
