Hi Sammy,

How old is your lo? It sounds like her latch is not right but its hard to say what the problem is without a little more info!

Ah, a 1 yr old is a bit beyond my experience as my lo is only 5 months! I am not sure what to suggest. Has she been teething - could it be related to that?

Sammy102 · 15/12/2012 03:39

I don't know she's been doing it while and it really hurts as mind dont stand out and she has to get a good grip

Has she been doing it since birth? That's a long time to persevere with it being uncomfortable.

Have you tried a little device called a LatchAssist
? It can help with flat nipples and make it easier for babies to latch on. I found it really helpful at the beginning when I was engorged and my lo was struggling to latch on properly.

Can I also suggest that you get some rl help? Is there a breastfeeding clinic you can go to? You can also get help and advice from LaLecheLeague , Or the NCT - the page I've linked to has lots of useful links and phone numbers at the bottom.
