Breastfeeding update - finally pain free!

Well, as the thread title says, after 8 weeks of cracks, bleeding, mastitis, vasospasm, tongue tie, frenectomy and cranial osteopathy, it has finally got easier. Not just easier, actually enjoyable. Thanks for all your help. Fingers crossed it continues!

glad you have it sorted. I went from being phobic about breastfeeding as it hurt so much, to feeding my DS for three and a half years.

ha, that sounds like a sentence. You don't have to do it for that long

Well done! This is reassuring. I'm at 6 weeks and I feel like I'm just turning the same corner, feeds over the last few days have been fine.

Well done Polly, I remember reading your pregnancy thread as well. Its some journey you've been on with your little one.

Our breastfeeding wasn't quite as stressful as yours, but I kept getting blisters till he was around 13 weeks. Though interestingly we are ok on one side for about 4 weeks before that. I think his mouth getting bigger helped a lot.

We're now 18 weeks in and still going strong :D

I have thought about it a lot recently, as this time last year, I was at the warehouse project in Manchester partying all night, boozing at xmas parties and planning for my big trip to Thailand and India with no idea what was about to happen and change everything forever. I would never have believed you if you had told me whe I would be. And i wouldn't change it for the world. Funny how life has a way of working out. Glad to hear feeding has improved for you too.

And you three wheels good. It feels so good when it starts to work!

Humphrey cobbler, wow, 3.5 years?! Amazing, not sure I will make it that far, but I have started to love it. I also dreaded it before...l luckily it clicked before raffy was aware I was swearing every time he latched, otherwise not sure what he would think his name was!!

Pleased it worked out in the end...well done for persisting. It takes such a long time to get it established. bFing is probably the hardest but best thing I've done in my life - so worth it

I've just dipped into Mumsnet & spotted this lovely thread. Congratulations Polly on your baby and the breakthrough in breastfeeding.
I remember the first 6 weeks being hellish. It's so easy to forget the good bits! For what it's worth, I carried on for 14/15 months. Would have done more, but by then my son decided he'd had enough. He is nearly 3 now, but reading this brought it all back.

Wowsers I remember your other threads, this is amazing news!!! Well done.

Slight hijack but I'm still bf too, had a pretty stressful start and thought I was going to stop at 2 weeks, ds was 7 weeks yesterday :)

It does feel like years ago doesn't it? I am fine, if tired as I have spawned an early riser!

Congrats and well done for persevering! I had similar, numerous issues tat lasted 5 weeks, then it started to get easier and now at 12 weeks I love it, love the closeness, convenience and the adorable faces my DD pulls!
