My darling 8 month old (milk only comes from a breast, take that bottle away from me) son had his last bf on monday, its only taken 2 months to wean him off me. He would not take a bottle, so we have tried every method listed in mumsnet!!! I should be singing with joy, but already i miss bf him!!! What do i do with my breasts now, they are starting to feel uncomfortable, any tips?

Did you wind down gradually Jen?
Otherwise you'll be pretty uncomfortable.
You could always just carry on esp. if you miss it!

Yes i dropped one feed at a time, over the 2 months, for the last 3 weeks its only been the morning and night feed, the morning feed went last week and then the night feed on monday. Really needed to give up, want my body back!! just miss the skin to skin thing!

jenny, point me in the direction of those methods you used. I've done an archive search but couldn't find anything. Ive just started a thread asking how to get a bfed baby to accept a teat. BTW, well done for managing it.

Methods. I waited until DS was on three meals a day and taking a good amount, at this stage i droped the lunch time feed, and started using a doidy cup with a little formula, most of this went over the floor or me. Then with a good breakie in him i dropped the 10 oclock and gave him water, the 4 oclock was the hardest i gave him water and a biscuit and a good long suck on his furry blue dog toy.

To drop the morning and bedtime i got a spout to go in the avent bottles and tried that in the morning when he was really thursty and then did the same at night, giving him a little bottle first then a little breast, then just dropping the breast one night, i took the valve out of the spout and the milk just pours out. He was use to formula because of having it during the day from his cup, i use hipp organic it smells so much better then some other formula, so throw out the teat and get a cup and spout for a bottle. A good plastic bib is really needed!!!!

Thanks. Just tried her with a bottle using the avent spout without the valve. She was happy to have it in her mouth & even drank a little. I didn't help that the freshly expressed milk was the foremilk & quite thin. Might try later with hindmilk when she's not too tired.
