What other type of teats can be used in an Avent bottle?

We have some spare Avent bottles, but our little one prefers Dr Brown. We know we cant use the Dr Brown teats in the Avent as they collapse. So we get our Avent bottles used, do they take any other teats besides Avent?

I've got avent bottles and found mothercare , asda and tesco own brand teat for wide neck bottles fit fine.

The MAM teats work in the Avent bottles. Just as well beacuse the MAM bottles have about a million bits to them, the Avent are much easier

Thank you for this advice. Do they all work (i.e. dont collapse but let air in) when on the Avent? Dr Brown fit, but collapse because these are for a vented bottle.

Coolmama, your DS must be more experienced at releasing the vacuum. I think you had to do this before all these sophisticated bottles came out, I seem to remember being told to do it with my cousin when I used to babysit, a matter of slightly changing the angle of the teat in the mouth, but eventually babies learn to do it themselves by releasing the suction and letting the air re-flate the teat. DGD was breastfed until recently so was used to sucking continuously, and got very upset when the Dr Brown teat collapsed on the Avent bottle. This is why we want the right teats as it has been a right old faff getting her on to the bottle full time.

I've watched him collapse teats on avent and Dr brown's bottles - he sort of waits until they are completely flat and then lets them go so they reinflate - have no idea how he does that - sory I couldn't be more helpful.

I've never found a teatt that doesn't collaspe, all three of them have managed it, the faster the flow it seems to slow them down! I've always rotated the bottle as the feed, as you say change the angle!

I juat waited until the teat was pretty much flattened and then broke the suction or pulled the teat out of DS mouth a bit - and that let the air back in - now he does it on his own -

Ive noticed these days that teats are sold in packs of about 3 and are quite expensive, thats why I wanted to get it right. (BTW if you are raising your grandkids like I am you dont have a lot of money! I suppose Im harking back to the days when you bought a teat at the chemist for about 20P!!! I sound like my own mother now!!!). I might go to Boots tomorrow and get some MAM or tommee tippee or even Boots hoping that they work in the Avent. Its a pity I cant find anyone who will swap me 4 Dr Browns for 4 Avents, as we all like our 3 Dr Browns, but reading the threads on here you'd be lucky to give the Avents away.

Thank you thats really nice, but I think I have things sorted. All of a sudden the little un is glugging down the milk and the Avents are only 4oz bottles and she now drains them, so I have been and bought a couple of Tommee Tippee Nuby bottles from Sainsbury's and will see how it goes. At least they are only half the price of the Dr Brown's and I can get the spares quickly locally! However, she hasnt tried them yet!

Have also just realised I could do with a steriliser that takes all the bottles in one go! Hence me starting the other thread.

When I did all this the first time 20+ years ago it was all Milton and Chemical sterilisers and the one I had then was huge. I used to get 7 big bottles, a small juice bottle, dummies etc etc in it ...

I cant work out what it is with these Tommee Tippee Nuby bottles, wished I had just bought more Dr Browns. She doesnt like them because the teat collapses and you have to actually stop her sucking (ie get her to open her mouth) before it reflates. arrrrgggh!
