What to put in goodie bag for Breastfeeding Group?

We are starting up a breastfeeding support group at my workplace, and are going to give new mums a goodie bag with leaflets etc in and would like some ideas of what else to put in it.

The midwife has ordered some Lansolin sachets for us. I was thinking about a few breast pads - if anyone knows of a brand that come individually wrapped? Not sure what else.

We have a reasonable budget, and everything will be put past the midwife and maternity support worker.

Muslin square, list of local support group times, a carton of drink to emphasise the importance of keeping fluids up and some snacks to keep energy up.

Yes I think TT pads are individually wrapped. If you are in the north east they have a factory shop (or did when I was expecting)

You could put a pair of reusuable pads for people to try?

Little recipe booklet of healty snacks and/or some nuts or flapjacks.

Sheet on anywhere that's particularly BF friendly; local cafes and feeding rooms in shops etc. We did this at the new parent group at my children's center - v useful for everyone.

Agree with muslins.

A sheet on their rights when returning to work or BFing in public.

Could you give a leaflet of good internet links. In particular explaining different positions. Not all women get on with the cradle position that the nhs teaches (at least in my area). Some women might find biological nuturing, the cross cradle position easier.

List of breastfeeding hot lines and other support groups may well be useful.

Details of local groups, including sling meet groups etc if you have any. I think there's also a fridge magnet you can get with all the BF helpline numbers on - that would be fab!

Not sure about nuts in case people are allergic and don't expect to find them there - or if they leave the bag lying around and their toddler gets into it, they could pose a choking hazard.

Lansinoh sachets sound good and breast pads. I'd steer clear of too much "equipment" type stuff because you don't really need it, and thinking that you do can put people off - ditto vitamins etc. But I like the idea of snacks and drinks for mum!

Why not contact some local cafes and see if (a) they're baby/breastfeeding friendly, and (b) if they would like to offer any discount vouchers for your pack.

There is a brilliant DVD from best beginnings that used to be given out through the NHS but I think this has now been stopped because of cuts.

I think it's tricky actually, you don't want to make new mothers think that breastfeeding is going to be hard by saying that you'll need creams, pads, extra fluids, special foods etc. Equally, I'm not denying that for some women these things are useful and that breastfeeding is hard. Does that make any sense whatsoever?
