confused about whether to stop bf (and what to milk to replace with) - advice please!

I have started to feel like I don't want to beastfeed ds (18 mo) anymore. But I am so confused because I don't want to regret it in a few weeks time. Has anyone out there weaned at this age and regretted it? Or has felt like this and then the feeling passed and they're glad they didn't stop?

Also, if I give him a cup of milk to replace bf, is it supposed to be whole milk at this age?

Whole milk at this age. If you want to stop then do, you have given him a nice longtime of breast feeding. I doubt you will really regret it, that is more than any of the signs that our LOs are growing up.

thanks mummytime! Just seen I called it beastfeeding! I meant breastfeeding of course. For some reason I'm getting all tied up in knots about it in my head. I think it's because I know he's not ready, as he really loves it and asks for it still, so I'd be stopping for my own reasons. Maybe that's ok though?

how about stopping gradually, it's also ok not to enjoy every minute of feeding some times it does feel like a chore.

May be you could try going down the don't offer don't refuse route.

mm, well he's only been having bf first thing and at bedtime for the last 6 months, and I've been 'not offering' for a few days, but he then just asks and/or helps himself! So I'm not sure this will work but maybe I should just give it more time. I think I might get DH to do bedtimes and just carry on with the morning one.

He will be my only baby, so it will be the end of bf for me for ever :(
