With DD I brought several slings but never really got on with them, however just found out im expecting DC2 and really want to be prepared as I will (all being well) have a newborn and a toddler so need to be able to BF on the go. Whats slings have you tried and what did you find the best?? Thanks x p.s I have looked for the sling library but none close to me Sad

Honestly - it didn't work for me until dd could hold her head up. Feeding in a sling was no different to feeding sitting down - id have to stop and position her etc.

I used a ring sling and BF both DCs in that.
I liked it as I could sit and feed without anyone knowing what I was doing. It felt very natural as the baby was almost in a feeding position anyway.

What are the ring slings called Ruthchan just so I can google?

Just google ring sling, they are made by all different manufacturers. Use slingmeet.co.uk to find a local group near you to help you get started.

Yes, ring sling is a style of sling that is made by many different manufacturers.
They are the type where the sling is on one of your shoulders and across your body.
Tiny babies lie inside and then later they can sit up.
They can be tiring with all the weight on one shoulder, but for shopping and general daily use I found mine to be excellent.

I managed to feed fine using a moby, think it may depend a bit on boob size though, I know people who couldn't feed in it, I second a sling meet, you can try a few out.

The Kari-Me has a configuration that's good for breastfeeding although I found it awkward and don't feed in the sling anymore.

Yes, I've fed using a Kari-Me (basically a wrap sling) and it was fine, even did it whilst walking - v handy when running late to pick older DD up from nursery! However DS is now 4 months and I think he'd be too big to do it now.
