BF baby struggling to poo

DD is 11 weeks and EBF. Every now and then she goes through periods of not being able to poo. It's always at night and she struggles and gets really distressed on and off for hours. It means we are both up, literally from 3am sometimes and get no sleep the rest of the night. Her poos are normal, liquid so she's not constipated, I think she's just getting used to pooing or something. We're starting baby massage in a couple of weeks but we both need sleep sooner than that.

I rub her tummy, push her legs up and cycle her legs but none of it helps. Any other ideas/tips?

I would talk to your health visitor about this, as there are some potentially unpleasant causes. You could also keep a diary of what you eat and see if anything correlates. Pain in a BF baby is unusual; one of mine had it if I ate curry - he is now a strapping vindaloo eating 18 year old...
