Just finished bfing - painful boobs

Hi there

I've just finished bfing and co-sleeping, and my right boob in particular is very full and painful - this was the one that DS would latch onto and while he didn't ever feed much it must have kept my supply going.

Should I be doing anything to alleviate this? Having a shower didn't seem to do much this morning. It's now obviously worse and I'm also feeling a bit queasy and headachy - not sure if that's related.

Anyone got any idea when it'll start to calm down or if there's anything I can do to help? Thank you.

I have always heard that cold compresses placed in a bra will help (even something as simple as chilled lettuce or cabbage leaves). Also, apparently hot water stimulates milk production (I was told this by a midwife). HTH.

Thanks for replying. I've taken some paracetamol and I'm off to bed, hopefully they may calm down overnight

You're welcome. I hope you got some sleep. It's always worth having a chat with your preferred healthcare professional as well, if the problem doesn't go away. They may have a better suggestion than mine.
