12 week old is playing with teet rather than feeding

My 12 week old has just started playing around with the teet rather than feeding, which is leading to him not getting a full feed. He's not teething and is normally very good. Any suggestions?

try a faster teat? Does he want a feed any sooner when he doesnt take a full feed?

I did wonder that. Yesterday was a nightmare, crying as if he was hungry then playing with it and only taking 3 or so ounces. Looking like this morning might be the same :(

I agree with vodkaanddietironbru, faster teat (one size up) may be the answer. My DS (17 weeks this Sunday) would either take ages to actually start sucking on a teat (we have been using Avent size 2 right up until last week, sometimes alternating size 2 and 3), or he would be sucking so hard that he would pinch the teat really hard + was really fidgety when doing so (I guess from wanting the milk to flow faster). It was really frustrating as he actually wasn't completely ready for the next size up (in our case, Avent size 3) until this week, and size 2 was too slow. Grrr.

He is much happier now on size 3, guzzles his milk without fidgeting, even though he still gets a bit of a dribble from sucking too fast but not swallowing fast enough.
