Struggling to be concise sorry! I have an inverted nipple which meant a lot of trauma to left side in the early days with each of my 3 dcs as they learned to feed from that side. WIth my dc2 this side completely dried up at 6 mnths, I limped on feeding from one side for 1 month, but in the end being low in confidence ended up offering top ups and finished bf before I was ready, which was really upsetting
Now on DC3 I again had a lot of soreness and bad cracks in this side in first 4 weeks. At times I had to exclusively express from that side and this side has had a poor supply since day one. I have been expressing every now and then to boost supply and feeding from 'bad' side first since the early days to try and keep supply going. However, just recently my breast seems to get tender and a little hard - it seems like my LO is unable to empty this side properly, as when I express again it softens and feels more comfortable. There aren't any lumps and his latch is good - although perhaps he puts less effort into emptying this side, I get the feeling the flow isn't as good on that side.
Is this anything to worry about? Shall I just carry no expressing to empty? I don't want to be massively lopsided and only feed from one side for the next x amount of months (I'm fairly slim and small chested and its really obvious - I know it sounds vain but the size difference is already apparent!). I just really want to keep feeding from both breasts! I hope to manage at least 12 months this time, especially as DC3 has recently diagnosed milk allergy and can't have dairy.
