Tandem feeders: how often does your older nursing request a feed?

Just that really. DS (2.7) is very very demanding requests a feed about a billion times a day. It is driving me insane. I know he asks more when bored, so I do try keep him busy and entertained but, honestly as soon as I sit down or need to feed DD (9 months) he mugs me.

I am feeling exhausted, and worn out by it.

Do some of you have a very demanding older child or do all your nurselings just request once/twice a day? Is there something wrong with my parenting that has resulting in this situation?

I want to know where all these 3 year olds are that only feed in the morning and before bed.

My DD1 (3.10yo) sounds a lot like your DS and it is bloody hard, isn't it? And if you moan about it to someone that's never BF a toddler then they say 'why don't you just wean?' like it's a simple answer. She definitely asks to be fed more than DD2 (17mo) and she's a mugger too, I can't sit on the sofa without being asked.

Lately she's become better at being fobbed off ('awwwww' instead of a full-on tantrum) and I've made a habit of asking her if she's hungry or thirsty when she asks. Also I have a freezer full of homemade ice lollies which always take preference over boob, every time Wink

NOTHING is wrong with your parenting. At all. Some children are just more enthusiastic BFers than others. But they do all wean!

There's nothing wrong with setting some boundaries if you feel like you're not happy with the situation. Have you read MOthering Your Nursing Toddler? There are lots of nice ideas in there.

Smile thanks Eau I do set limits and have read MYNT. I suppose I'm just a little low and feel a bit worn out. It'll be alright
