Prem baby & tandem feeding

This is a hypothetical question. :)

Am I right in thinking that if you have a (very) prem baby you make special premature milk?

Does tandem feeding a toddler effect how long you produce premature baby milk for?

I'm only 25 weeks pg, but we had a bit of a wobble at the weekend when I had some bleeding from the womb. I was given precautionary steroids to mature baby's lungs and a scan showed no obvious sign as to what had caused the bleeding, so I'm not too worried at the moment.

I don't think my 2.5 y.o. is likely to stop bf'ing between now and the baby arriving, but if tandem feeding has a positive effect on prem baby milk, I'll encourage him to feed more often just in case.

angeldog I'm sorry I can't answer the tandem feeding questions, but hope someone with more knowledge will be along soon.

I too had PV bleeding from 29 weeks on three occasions and was given steroids for the baby's lung development. It was scary, but there was good monitoring at the hospital and the advice to me was to rest more often. DS was eventually born at 42 weeks, all healthy and fine.

I hope this is slightly reassuring, as I know how you feel.

have you had a look at www.kellymom.com there's lots of info on there about tandem feeding.

Thanks, Mystery. :) 42 weeks would be a good time for our LO to arrive - we're too busy before 40 weeks to deal with an early baby - and that'd give me a couple of extra to breathe! Wink

i got to the point where I was doing little "get out" dances, endless floor washing and trudging up and down the driveway in the snow... all to no avail!

i wish someone could actually give you an accurate baby timetable, would help ease the worrying no end!
