stopping breastfeeding - sore! Ideas for comfort?

Hi folks,
I am just stopping BF now, and am on night/day 2 of no feeds. Suddenly realising I've no idea if I have to do something for my own body's comfort, or to avoid engorgement or mastitis! We had already gone down to only one feed at night (on one breast) and one feed in a.m. (on other breast), so I was already producing much less milk. But now what? Do I just stop? I'm feeling pretty solid up there tonight, and it's less than comfy.
Please, and tips or reassurances??
Thanks.

express the milk away - can be comfortable to do in a bath or shower.

Stuff a few green cabbage leaves in your bra - its supposed to be very good for engorgement!

Hi and thanks for your suggestions. Does anyone know what happens if you can't express much milk? Does it just get re-absorbed or does it lead to problems? I feel quite medieval asking these questions(!), but it's been bothering me that not much is coming out, and I'm still engorged. How long does it take?!
