i do have to count to 10 seconds to see if Ds is latched on properly or not and re do it again. He latched on great once ive got it right (Im a learner).....but on my left boob after i fed him, i get a throbbing stabbing pain on my left side of boob for about 10 mins and then it goes, doesnt seem to happen on my right boob and also my nipples feels on fire after 20 mins feed on one boob. My ds has had nearly finished his Nysatin med for oral thrush, i did put thrush cream on my nips for 3 days but i dont think i seem to have it. (i always wipe it off before feeds).....

How long will my nipples will toughen up or is that it?? as it bloody kills!!!

Have you ever had pain free grew on that side? is it only painful on the one side? If so then it's probably not thrush.
But feeding shouldn't be painful like that, has anyone observed a hole feed?
I think you should seek more help with latch, see if there is a local breastfeeding cafe near you they are often run in Childers centres. or ring one of the helplines.

the pain has had appeared there about a week ago. Yeah my midwife had watched me feeding DS and said that's all fine. My nips feels like my DS got broken glass inside his mouth for the first 10 secs......even when i get into the shower, i have to take my time before i can run the warm water over my nips as it feels so tender or even if i brush a soft sheet against my nips by accident..i feel arrrggghhh.

maybe it is the latch.

What your experiencing was exactly like my thrush symptoms I used the gel and then took a dose of fluconszole which cleared it up after a day

This sounds exactly like my thrush symptoms too. Too painful to even touch my nipples with the shower water or clothing. I'd go back to the GP and ask for a single dose of fluconazole. If this doesn't work, ask them for a longer course of fluconozole. It took the longer course to clear mine up properly. You could take some paracetamol in the meantime, it helps reduce the pain when you feed.

YOu definitely need to treat yourself for thrush otherwise you are just going to pass it back and forth between you :(

my midwife came yesterday and prescribed the prescription for me to my docs over the phone to find out that ive got the thrush cream to put on my nips. i rang the docs later on and told him that its the pain ive got inside my breast that is hurting so he told me to come in this morning and he assess me to see what's what!

Sounds like thrush. My GP gave me oral antifungal tablets and that did the trick. It can be a bugger to get rid of as you both have it. You may have to educate your GP a bit as to the effective treatment as some don't know too much about it.
