DS has pretty much weaned, and seems to be coming down with a bug...

...we're down to one morning feed (about 5am) every other day. He's just stopped asking for it. Today he's come out in a viral rash and has a temp, my usually way of getting him better is to nurse, nurse and nurse.

I've a feeling tonight's going to be horrendous without the boob option.

I'm pretty sad about it all anyway as he's my third and last, and now I feel helpless whilst he's poorly Sad

will he accept lots of cuddles and warm drinks?

one of my favourite memories from early childhood is being poorly and sleeping/dozing on the couch with warm blackcurrant juice, a big blanket and my mum.

you've done something amazing for him - you've helped to make his immune stronger, given him a strong sense of attachment, and let him make his own choices... that's all great stuff that will be important for his whole life.

Thank you. He has been accepting hugs, but has slept a lot today and not eaten much, so he's likely going to be hungry in the night. I might be worrying about nothing and he might sleep through, should stay positive really Smile

The other night he woke startled, and I tried to feed him, but it really hurt, my let down just stung and no milk appeared, he ended up going back to sleep after a lot of frustration. My nipples have got really sore/cracked too, which has more than likely contributed to the weaning. I shall take a cup of milk to bed just in case, maybe?

milk in a cup might be a good idea, just in case.

you sound like you need some lansinoh and a hug though!

DeliaRose · 12/07/2012 21:08

Lasinoh applied hourly! Still have a whole tube as didn't use much at all when I got started, no one told me I'd need it more at the end!

Could probably do with a hug - feeling pretty down about the end of this chapter, I guess it's hormones playing a part though too?

yes, i'm sure you'll have all kinds of hormonal changes happening at the moment. be kind to yourself.

i believe chocolate and Wine is prescribed for weaning mothers Wink

I@m veyr glad i've still got a tube of lansinoh lurking... i'll bear that in mind!
