Anyone else struggled with being a milk bank donor?

Hi,

Feeling sad and frustrated today. It took ages to find a milk bank prepared to collect milk donations from where I live, then we were on holiday, then ill, and I have 13 days left before my baby's 6 months old and they won't take any more milk from me.

So far I've only managed 11oz, and it's been so stressful because I'm trying to be extra careful (cos it's for vulnerable babies) and my steam steriliser wwill suddenly be fickle and only work for 3 mins so I have to try another time and finally I sit down to express and 1oz comes out :( I heard 1 woman donated 5 litres! Anyone else struggled to donate?

I tried to arrange it before DD was 6mo, but a couple of banks said they now had too many donors to need to do collections anymore (we don't drive). I was personally disappointed, but I suppose it's a good thing really Smile

Really? I ended up emailing all of the ones in the South East and Kings College Hospital said they'd take it - in fact they said they were short of donors at the moment so could I spread the word. They've been great, it's just not worked out that I've had much opportunity to be able to donate.

You're right though - it's a v good thing but I also understand why you were disappointed. I suppose even a pint (which is probably what I'll end up with) is better than nowt!
