Fridge if you must pre-prepare them. Cooled boiled water won't kill any bugs in the milk powder. Water has to be 70 degrees at least.

Make up feeds as described on box and then cool down immediately and put in back of fridge. Don't keep for more than 24 hours.

I think the WHO guide lines are rapped cool and fridge store for 4 hours. As op says cold boiled water won't kill the bugs. So is an absolute no.

We always made up feeds with boiling water then stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Bacteria lurks in the milk powder so needs heat to kill it off.

Health visitor told me the cooled water method today and I must admit it is far easier..., confused all over again!

Your HV is mistaken.

The risk is bacteria in the milk powder, must be mixed with HOT water to reduce the risk.

The tap water is pretty safe Smile

I think that is a resounding go back to the fridge then !

oh and please ask for your HV to have some up to date training. She's giving out potently dangerous advice.
