Ouch. 7.5mo sudden painful latch. Why?

BF my DD has suddenly become painful. DD is 7.5mo so I thought we were past the pain. It almost feels like my nipple is burning but only when she feeds. I've very nearly just cried out in pain as it was toe curling.

I don't know what's causing it so I don't know how to correct it. DD doesn't have any teeth yet so I wonder if she is teething and it's made her latch slip?

Has anyone got any ideas what this could be?

Had the same thing a few weeks ago- kellymom had some useful info on it. Could be teeth, increased saliva and also residue from solids. Dd was cutting her 1st and as soon as it stopped bothering her the shooting feeding pain stopped too.

My DD is coming up to 8m and has just cut her first tooth. A week leading up to it the latch became a little painful and DD insisted on biting me!! There could be a number of reasons but teething is most likely to be the obvious one. I'm no expert so hopefully someone will come along soon.

I hope you are right and it is a teeth and it stops as one appears.

What kind of pain is it? I've been getting pain as DD is gumming down quite hard on me.

I too have been dusting off the tube of Lansinoh!

Could you possibly be pregnant? Grin That's what happened when my 22 month old latched on... Suffice to say I got him off the boob ASAP due to pain. We had a baby 8 months later...!

Oh showtunes the nipping with rock hard gums is horrid isn't it but this is a burning pain throughout the feed.

drcrab arghh. The very thought of two little people with very little gap.

In other news I had a nightmare that I couldn't find DD at the swimming pool Hmm and woke up completely soaked in milk. That had better not ruin my nicely regulated supply.
