Can stopping breastfeeding delay your period?

Stopped breastfeeding DS 3 weeks ago. We went cold turkey and I was seriously engorged for 2 weeks.

DS has just turned 2 and was still feeding frequently during the day and night, but my periods returned last summer so were well established and although not exactly regular ( I had anything between 22 and 28 day cycle) I was never late.

I am now a week late, when I stopped bfing I was mid cycle so should have already ovulated but I'm not certain. Extremely unlikely to be pregnant, we use condoms and there hasn't been any split or anything.

So, could I have ovulated again after stopping feeding thus delaying my period? Or should I start panicking and poas?

no idea on if stopping bf will affect things but I think you should do a pg test to be sure - I got pregnant 'through' a condom once, even though it seemed fine, no split etc. something imperceptible must have gone wrong...

haha, sorry! Just want you to be sure! I think the best rule is "if you're having sex, you might be pregnant". end of!

Phew, period has arrived. It's pretty horrific too so I think it's safe to say I'm not pregnant! Will be forever paranoid about condoms springing imperceptible leaks now though Shock Grin
