can anyone remind me when the growth spurts are?

6 day old DD has been feeding all morning, and it reminded me that she will have growth spurts in the near future which make all morning feeds seem like nothing!

there should be ones at 2 weeks and 4 months or so IIRC but when are the others?

thanks :)

No good evidence for predictable growth spurts - it's a myth they happen at specific times. They can happen any time at all - just go with the flow and you will hardly notice them :)

Personally I don't think they do come at set times Kveta.

I found www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bfinfo/fussy-periods-and-wonder-weeks-0 this good info from the Australian Breastfeeding Association the other day and they now tend to think that so called appetite increases are down to developmental leaps or the Wonder Weeks.

I guess if you are feeding responsively then you will just up your baby's feeds as they ask for more- whenever that may happen. Smile

thanks - I thought they were at pretty standard times from when DS was wee, but clearly not! will have to just play it by ear then :)

they don't come at set times, as they've said above: however, i was told 10 days, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months.

DD's were much more erratic than that, but knowing that they were going to come meant that i didn't panic so much - i'd get a couple of days where she did nothing but eat, and i can take it in my stride knowing it's perfectly normal :)
