Woodwards Gripe Water.

Hi all,
My 5 weeks old little girl is having some problems with trapped wind and I think perhaps reflux. Woodwards gripe water was recommended by a friend as something she used on her own children a number of years ago.
My only concern is it seems to be impossible to get a hold of in shops and only available online. After some research it seems that all local stores as well as tescos/sainsburys and the like aren't restocking. Getting lots of stories about rebranding etc just wondered if anyone knew why this product is not being stocked anymore, maybe there has been some problems with it??

Thanks in advance!!

Hi bonbon. Congratulations on your new arrival. 2 of my dds have suffered terrible trapped wind and I used gripe water with the 1st but it didn't have much effect. Found infacol before every feed worked loads better. Also make sure you aren't overwinding your dd. I would rub my dd's back for ages trying to get wind up and hv told me all I was doing was mixing the trapped air bubbles up with the milk in her tummy therefore making it nigh on impossible for my dd to get her wind up and it was getting trapped. She suggested putting dd on my shoulder and gently tapping her back then lying her down briefly and lifting her again and wind should come up with no problems.

Ps dd1 had terrible reflux. She was that bad that noone else would hold her till she was about 3 months old. She just puked milk constantly. I think I walked about for the 1st 6 months stinking of puke and covered in stains Grin

Best of luck with you dd

pixie, what makes you certain your baby has trapped wind? What exactly is she doing?

You can get boots home brand gripe water, I saw some in there the other day.

There was an issue with the licensing for Woodwards Gripe Water which was discovered when the manufacturer was taken over. I believe production may have started again - I have seen stock in my local Boots.

Boots also do an own brand version.

I was told by a chemist at our Asda Pharmacy that it they'd stopped stocking it due to the alcohol content. Apparently!

I bought some last week in Morrisons. Smile

There was an issue with licensing but my local shops have started to have stock coming back - I've got it from Morrisons and local pharmacy. Keep looking it is out there! Also try Infacol & Dentinox - didn't work for mr but every baby is different. My sister swears by Infacol but DS only burps with Gripe water.
