...and he shows no signs of stopping. I'm still off work and am happy to keep feeding him for longer. I have all my lovely arguments tucked up my sleeve for when family start making 'ick' noises. But I am starting to feel self conscious about feeding out and about. He is a very big boy, on 98th centile for weight and height, so it already looks like I am feeding an 18mo.

It happens rarely now, as he doesn't feed much during the day. But he had a meltdown today and the quickest way to calm him was a quick feed in a cafe. Nobody said anything, but I was surprised to feel quite self-conscious about it.

Can people reassure me about feeding larger, older babies when out and about? Am I going to have to defend myself and DS lots? If so, I will get practising my arguments and fuck-off-stare!

Well done for getting to 12 months!

I'be never had a single negative commentfor feeding in public. The law is on your side so if you're worried get a good quote from direct gov or somewhere!

Familys eh? My sister makes comments. Just ignore. Or ask them for a valid reason to wean, because familial prudery isn't one.

Congrats!

I'm still feeding my 15 month old how is in 18th month clothing too. He feeds lots and lots still but I've not had any problems.

Well done! I regularly feed my 2 year old in public and have never had a negative comment. This includes feeding on crowded trains and while walking down the street. Generally, people don't realise what's going on, even when they're standing quite close and I'm talking about "milkies" with her! There's been a couple of stares but I put it down to curiosity rather than hostility.

Practising your arguments sounds like a good idea anyway though, sounds like you'll be fine. :)

My DD was a bit like this at 12 months (although she was smaller), but soon after 12 months she was down to 2 feeds, then 1 feed and now aged 15 months she self weaned. Three weeks ago, I would have said I would still be feeding at 18 months, but that hasn't happened.
