anyone know where to buy these? dd has v slow weight gain and hv has suggested i try them.

I got them both in holland and barratt.

I didn't find that they helped much. I decided to take to my bed and do nothing but feed. (I co slept anyway)Plenty of skin to skin contact, plenty of fluids, and allowed baby to nuzzle and nibble freely. My supply increased dramatically after 48 hours. The other children just had to climb in too when they wanted me!

How old is your dd?

Can get them on holland and barratt on line. Delivery was v quick.

Think the fenugreek made a difference to supply but also seemed to give ds enormous greenish pasty poos so have stopped taking it for now.

Holland and barratt. I tried the fenugreek ages ago and it gave me huge engorged boobs with 72 hrs. Def did the trick!

Did the HV also check that they herbal meds were suitable for you? I know nothing about Blessed Thistle but I do know Fenugreek has quite a few contraindications - see here and here.

Did the HV suggest anything else to increase weight gain - feeding baby more frequently, switch nursing (changing sides as soon as baby's suckling slows so many side changes per feed), offering more sides per feed, breast compressions, getting a deeper latch (if appropriate)? Did she observe a full feed?

Regardless of what medication/herbal supplement you take if baby isn't feeding frequently enough or isn't feeding effectively, there won't be any real change in baby's milk intake - you might get engorgement, plugged ducts or mastitis though if you are making more milk than baby is able to remove!
