Back at work and bf 10 month old. Diminishing supply??

2 questions here I suppose!!

So how can this work?
She's down to 3 bf during the day and sometimes 1 at night. So usually 7.30, 11.30 and 6.30.

Can I drop the 11.30 feed and it won't affect her or my supply?

Talking about my supply: I had to leave her Monday so only fed her twice during the day and my breasts didn't feel hard or full at 6.30...could my supply be diminishing?

Btw she never "looks" for a feed now (apart from the middle of the night!!). I just feed her at those times as that's what I'm used to. Is this normal?

Ok 3 questions!!

Thanks. :)

I would drop the 11.30 feed

when mine got to about 8 months I lost the fullness if I missed a feed, I don't think it's that unusual really but I'm the only person I know who BF beyond 4 months

I went back to work when DS was 8 months and had a similar feeding pattern to your DD. I dropped the mid morning feed and gave him a bigger breakfast, so he only feeds when he wakes up and before sleep now (and sometimes during the night!). It doesn't seem to have affected my supply, he seems satisfied after a feed, but I don't get full if he misses a feed and I can't express a significant amount anymore. I think that's normal, some of the other mums at a baby group I go to have found a similar thing.

Same story here! At 11 months ds feeds am and pm, occasionally once during the day. I believe my boobs have gotten smaller! I also think my supply is down, but have been reassured that it's enough- or he'd soon let me know!!

Thanks a mill!

That's a relief that you all felt the same way. Hopefully she's getting enough anyway. It feels odd that my breasts weren't full at 6.30, but obviously is normal enough.

I went back to work when ds was 9 months. 3 days 8 -4. He was still feeding in the day and wouldn't take a bottle. He stays with my mum and I am a community nurse, so the plan was that she would call me and I would pop home and feed him. To cut a long story short, she's never had to. He has juice and food and doesn't miss it at all. It doesn't play havoc on the boobs, no engorgement or leaking and it hasn't affected my supply. On the days I am home he still feeds as usual. I didn't drop any feeds in preparation and it was just fine Grin

I went back at 8 months. At that point DD was feeding a a lot more than yours. 7am, 10am, 2pm, 7pm, 11pm, and 2am.

In the month before I returned, I wasn't sure if expressing at work would work out, so I dropped the 2pm feed and gave her formula instead, to be sure she would take it. No problems with my supply.

Once I started work, I tried expressing twice per day at 11am and 2pm, but it was so hard to fit in with meetings etc. So I switched to once per day at 1pm, and then I express one more time after she's gone to bed at 11pm.

I've been doing this for a few months now (she's nearly 11 months old and now feeds at 6am, 10.30am, 2.30pm, 8pm). I manage to express enough milk for her most days so she only had an occasional bottle of formula. And on days when I'm at home with her, I just breastfeed all the time, and I've not had any problems with supply.
