Hi,

I'm getting myself really worried and stressed out as my Daughter has quite suddenly started refusing feeds, she's always been bottle fed and usually has around three or four 7oz bottles per day as well as food (we're at stage 2 of weaning). She doesn't seem I'll at all and no visible signs of teething, it is all very strange. It has been a real struggle to get her to drink at all, she has had a total of 7oz throughout the whole day. She doesn't cry when we attempt to feed her so doesn't seem to be a reflux issue. She simply keeps her lips shut and turns her head to avoid the bottle. We can't even supplement her fluids with water or juice as she is still at the stage where she spits it out.

She's also been a bit off of food, showing no interest in her usual porridge breakfast and refusing dinner too. It is all very strange as only a few days ago her appetite seemed massive.

First time Mum And I'm getting myself very worried about this as it has been happening for 3 days now. Is this just a stage of teething? All advice welcome, thank you x

Could it be the weather? Ds goes off his food and milk in the heat. If she's still doing wet and dirty nappies then it's ok I think. Just keep offering stuff. Can you see a health visitor?

Hi, many thanks for the reply.
She's been doing wet and dirty nappies, though maybe not as many wet ones as usual. I wondered if it could be the heat too, it can get us all a bit upside down with eating and sleepinng can't it, though strangely she drank and ate very well when it was hot over the weekend, it's all a real mystery. I called the health visitor today and she said not to be too concerned if DD seemed otherwise happy, which she is - all chatty and doing lots of commando style rolling about. It is just so frustrating not understanding where this strange behaviour is coming from.

I think she's fine then :) Ds was the same last time it was hot and I was very worried. After a couple of days he turned into a milk monster again! It's gone cooler here tonight so if it is the same in your area she might pick up a bit tomorrow.

I don't think we will ever know what goes through the minds of babies other than the need to be utterly contrary and worry mummy unnecessarily :)
