Here.

Warnings- DM link, idiot comments from a doctor (and possibly from readers once they get going). Get your bingo cards out, you'll need them.

Ignorant comments from lay people are enough without an actual doctor spouting loads of bullshit.

You know what Suzi - good on your GP. I do understand that they have such a lot to keep on top of, and if paediatrics isn't their area of special interest using their own time to learn about breastfeeding maybe isn't top of their list. As you say, it's honesty that counts - and knowing who to send you to instead. Like not a HV...

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 21/05/2012 12:01

Trickle I agree with you about the 'each other's world' comment - stupid stupid. My DD (2.5yo) happily runs off to her childminder and nursery when I have to work, sometimes I don't even get a wave or a kiss Sad. We continually get comments from other people about how confident and self-assured she is.

Good luck with the (imminent?) BFing. It's wonderful - hard at times but wonderful. Can't wait to do it again! (Just need to conceive DC#3 Grin.)

Thanks EauRouge for the info re complaining, I think I will complain.

I like your GP Suzi, at least he was honest. Perhaps medics should know more about infant nutrition, but they should also know when they don't know about nutrition iykwim.

My bf'ing days are over Sad but my memories are so warm and fuzzy still. It can be difficult at the beiginning but it just gets easier and easier, and it's so flipping handy. My 2 DD's also have vague memories of bf'ing, particularly DD1, (yes, I fed for ages!) and still talk about how lovely it was for them.

I tried again to leave a comment on the Mail site but it hasn't been added. I expect they've had so many negative comments they've given up. Will also complain to PCC.

Whatnamethistime there was a big feature in The Times on Saturday about ebf. Very positive, apart from the use of C B-C as the bf "expert". I've had an email from the journalists to say they've had requests to syndicate the article. I used it as an opportunity to set her straight on C B-C and suggest they change the expert when the article is reproduced. I guess they won't bother but at least feel I've done my bit.

lurking - your comment rather randomly reminded me that I asked just-turned-2-year-old-DD what she liked about breastfeeding last week. She said "It taste nice yum yum yum", then paused for a while in thought and said "I a dinosaur roaaaaaaaaaar" Hmm

Dinosaur aside, I was mildly surprised that she mentioned the taste as I always think of it being a comfort thing for her.

Sorry, that's very random and nothing at all to do with this thread

There's a letter doing the rounds on FB if anyone wants to sign it.

Thanks Eau Rouge. By the way, I've worked out that I know you in RL! Exciting! But won't reveal, don't worry Wink
