Breastfeeding and pregnant nipple pain

I'm currently breastfeeding my 13mo and am 5-6 weeks pregnant, and my left nipple is killing me Shock I remember breast pain in the early days of my last pregnancy but was not expecting it this time as they are already in use so to speak.
There is no engorgement, and my nips don't look sore and arent crack at all.
Anyone else experienced this and/or have any advice other than gritting my teeth.

Unfortunately it's hormonal in origin not due to injury or poor latch (though it can be exacerbated by a toddler who likes to 360 degree nurse in one session and will not stay in the one place!). It tends to get better at around 12-ish weeks (though it may be earlier or later - no guarantees!).

Sometimes distraction (for you!) can work - so reading, MNing, watching TV or doing something involving like a puzzle book/game can help or perhaps setting limits on the feed so it doesn't feel like it will go on forever (I used to read books to DD1 while bfing her when pg with DD2 when the book was finished so was the feed - she was 11.5m when I got pg).

A great book to read is Adventures in Tandem Nursing by Hilary Flowers - it has lots of information and RL mothers experience on bfing when pg and bfing a newborn and an older sibling. Really helpful book.

Also Kellymom.com has a big section on bfing when pg and tandem nursing which is worth a read too.

Congratulations on your pg!

I thought it might be hormonal, doesn't help that she just bit it with her 8 teeth Angry will take a look at the book thanks
