Breastfeeding and wanting to lose weight (me not baby)

DD is 6mo, was ebf but am now weaning, still bf for all milk feeds.

I am back down to my pre-pg weight but I wanted to lose 6lb or so before I got pg. I don't eat particularly unhealthily but the problem is whenever I try to cut down my calorie intake I get so very very hungry that I end up binging on junk instead of having the extra sandwich/bowl of cereal/soup or whatever that would stop me being hungry.

Is this because I'm bf and should I wait until I've finished or am I just being a porker and am trying to blame it on my hormones?

breast feeding makes you tired and hungry ime. slimming world worked for me and I lost 3 stone in 3.5months while bfing twins. I did find with dd1 that I held onto my weight while bfing and then it fell off once I stopped at 8 months ish.

I've just started SW whilst breastfeeding. I'd like to lose a stone. I lost 2.5lb last week and felt like I ate loads. It doesn't restrict your carb intake which was really important to me with feeding 5.5 month DD.

I'm doing WW and have lost 18lbs since I started on it 8 weeks ago (lost just over 3.5 stone from my pre-pregnancy weight but I'm very overweight and have loads to go before I'm considered even just obese). You get 14 extra points per day for EBF, and 7 extra points per day when you start weaning.

Cooee Pastabee, SNAP I would like to lose a stone too!

Pastabee · 01/05/2012 22:17

Ooo! Do it showtunes. It's an easy diet... Most of my NCT group are on it now.... Plenty of carbs and you don't have to be forever writing stuff down.

I live in hope it will help with the tummy I seem to be retaining which doesn't make for a pretty sight in my pre pregnancy jeans!

Well I'm now about four pounds off my pre-pregnancy weight but I have the dreaded post-preg-post EMCS overhang. :( But before that I had some weight to lose anyway!

I did start to exercise at 12 weeks but I stopped as my scar was giving me some grief. I'm back in the saddle tomorrow though!

I don't think I'm going to go on a proper diet but will switch back to a more GI way of eating which really worked for me before I got married.

Hopefully your scar will be ok now. I've started Zumba..... Am dreadful at it but it's fun and after baby pasta has gone to bed. Aside from that I'm pushing the pram a lot.... Wish they came with resistance settings.

showtunesgirl · 01/05/2012 22:55

I aim for hills, that works as resistance! ;)

Pram pushing all the way - only upside of a Duracell bunny baby who won't nap any other way...
