Has anyone ben prescribed a milk thistle supplement to boost milk quantity and quality?

That's it really. My 9-day old ds3 had lost a bit of weight between days 5 and 7 and the GP prescribed for me a diet supplement containing milk thistle extract. I'm living in a Southern European country and it's a flower indigenous to here, so I'm wondering if this is more a local than a well-known remedy. Even in the last couple of days the baby is feeding much more efficiently, so I'm sure there isn't really a problem. But I was interested to know whether anyone had any experience of using this.

Hi, I have not used it but if it is the same as blessed thistle then Jack Newman uses it in conjunction with fenugreek to boost supply. I think that it aids milk flow rather than increases milk volume.
