You need to go by the age of baby. There should be a chart on the tin that says how much formula and how many per day. It's been a while for me but hope it helps Smile

my formula doesnt have the chart and she is 6 and a half months old and 20 pounds

If you haven't done already, your HV should be able to expkain eveything (plus helping with the aftermath of getting your boobs to stop producing). Hope everythings ok, i know people returning to work have to make a switch, but i'm sure its usually a 'gentle' process, not an 'all stop and change' thing so you both have the time to become accostomed to the changes? x

i started with just doing formula for bedtime and middle of the night bottles but now i only have milk in the morning and once she eats off of each side there isnt much until the next morning so im just gonna do morning feeds then formula the rest of the day until that milk goes away

Ah kool, thanks for that i was curious... Sorry i wasnt much help answering your original question though!

(/shameless bump since i took it off topic!)

I would start off with small bottles and increase the size if she seems to want more, so you're feeding "on demand".

Do you want any info on increasing supply or are you happy to swap to bottles now? :)

We called up the number on the side of the tin to make sure we were feeding DD enough. They will also be able to give you instructions.

FWIW - once DD was 1 month she was taking just over 4oz so we made 6oz in an 8oz bottle. She was always fed every four hours and this fitted in well with her sleeping. I always made more than what she needed so I wouldn't have to whip up some more half way through a feed and I found that she had less gas when I did it this way. Every baby is different so this probably won't apply to you!

my supply has started to fade multiple times before i just increased pumping feedings and water and it came back im just happy i made to to 6 months which was my goal now with spring here im going out more so its pointless to try and get itback shes happier with bottles because she doesnt have to work so hard if she didnt like bottles i wouldnt do them
