Constant all day cluster feeding - please tell me this will get better soon or I will have no nipples left!

My 2 week old dd has been doing nothing apart from feeding non-stop (and i really do mean non-stop, I am only getting breaks when dp takes her and then she cries her little baby socks off) pretty much all day and much of the evening for the past few days. The only saving grace is that she tends to then have a good long chunk of sleep after about 1am.

I am trying to take it in my stride and sit back with iplayer and maltesers but I really don't know if I can take this level of feeding for much longer. I am exhausted and with the best latch in the world after 5 hours or so my nipples are really getting a bit sore.

Will this amount of feeding reduce soon or am I stuck with this for months? I would really like to leave the house at some point in the not to distant future...just for a bit...I miss the outside!

Growth spurt. Yes it will get better.

You could stick her in a sling for a bit and she'll fall asleep if you go for a walk?

It really does reduce, but you might have a few weeks left of it. My DD clusterfed every evening for 5-6hrs, it was exhausting and I willed it to end. Then it did one night - great I thought. But no, instead of sleeping 4-6hrs in one big chunk, she then woke every 3 hrs instead. I wanted the cluster feeding back! Thankfully it returned after 1 more night of 3hrly feeds and after that, I felt a lot differently about cluster feeding! Now she feeds every 1-2hrs during the day but sleeps all night, some people I meet think she feeds too often but I get to sleep at night so I wouldn't change a thing!

I remember that. It definitely gets better.

I'm not far ahead of u. Dd is 5 wks and it does get better for a bit but during growth spurts u will have bouts of all day munching.

I think my nipples have got much more used to it too so I enjoy long feeds now as a chance to sit and watch something/ go on mn. But I remember how difficult it was very well.
