When's best to introduce a bottle to BF baby?

my DS is exclusively bf at the moment.
I started expressing with a medela pump a few days ago just once in a morning to start storing up some milk in the freezer for when I return to work.
I have had conflicting advice about when to introduce DS to a bottle - some have said from 6 weeks (which will be the end of this wk!) others say leave it a couple months.
I don't want to run the risk of DS refusing a bottle as when I go back to work in a few months my Mum will need to feed DS. However on the otherhand I don't want DS to prefer the bottle to breast either!
What have other people done in similar circumstances?

I think it depends on the baby. My DS has always fed extremely well, even despite having a dummy and bottle at 6 weeks. He never rejected the breast, so I've never been worried about nipple confusion etc.

If your DS is feeding well then go for it! Just try him with a few ounces then see how he feeds the rest of the day. DP has always given him his bottle last thing at night, so he knows I have boob and daddy has bottle so I think that's helped in him not prefering bottle!

I started one bottle of EBM a day from about 4 weeks. Ds took it it well. Then at about 4 months I tried to add in another bottle (dream feed) and he totally went off the bottle! It was a complete shock and I needed to have someone else feed him the bottle for a few days and tried so many different teats etc.

I think it depends on baby. I know babies that have gone straight onto sippy or anyway up cups at 5/6 months and never had a bottle.

It depends on baby, but I would start now if bf is going well. I would use the slowest flow teat and get DH to give the bottle once or twice a week.

I wouldn't wait much longer, all my friends who waited till 8 weeks onwards are struggling to get their babies to take bottles. My twins were on bottles from 1 week old as hospital forced us to top up (a whole different thread) but now happily switch between breast and bottle.

try now, your bf well established so unlikely to interfere. But do keep on at it regularly. My dd took a bottle from dh merrily from 8wks or so onwards, but we got lazy about it, and when she lost the suckling reflex (they won't automatically suck on eg a finger if placed in mouth, sadly i can't remember exactly when this was), she stopped taking a bottle. Now doing battle with sippy cups at 5mo in the hope she'll take something before I return to work pt.
So try to be consistent... Once a day or a few times a week is probably more than enough, but less often may not be worth the bother.

Well tried him on a bottle last night around 6pm for the first time.OH sat with him but DS kept pushing the teat out with his tongue.we tried a medela calma bottle and then swapped it for an avent as we weren't sure if milk was coming out of the first.
Going to try again this evening -with myself out the room and my OH with bare arms so DS feels skin to skin.
Thanks for all the advice etc up til now-just wish he would take both without all the stress but know it's going to take time.
