Mixing neocate into foods

Hi, I had a thread in allergies but no reply to my latest question which is: if I mix in say, 3 spoonfuls of neocate into dd's food (the only way she'll take it-won't drink it AT ALL) then does that mean I'd have to give her 3oz of water separately to balance it out? She is breastfed full time with foods (7.5 months).
My instinct is saying that she wouldn't need the extra water as is still having breastmilk but I dont know anything about baby formulas so just need to check.

Hi I read your thread in allergies but didn't really know the answer but couldn't read it a second time and not reply Blush

My gut instinct is that you wouldn't need to give the 3oz of water separately but I'm prepared to be corrected by someone who knows better though!

If she's bf she should be getting all the drinks she needs, will she take small amounts of water at meals?

I'm in a similar situation, my dd is 7 months and is allergic to dairy and probably egg (awaiting paed appointment). She's been ebf up to now but I need to return to work soon. She hasnt been prescribed neocate yet but I can't decide if it's worth me getting some for the odd bottle whilst I'm at work. I've heard that it tastes rank and it's really difficult to get dc's to drink it. I also saw on another thread on here recently that paeds suggest to mix the neocate with nesquick!

I'm sure you've already tried these but if I do get some I thought about mixing 1oz with expressed milk and gradually increasing. Also, as she takes water from a sippy cup, I thought about using that instead of a bottle so it's another drink rather than a milk substitute if that makes sense. If not I think I'll be expressing like crazy over the next few weeks to build up a supply!

Sorry for totally hijacking your thread, I hope you get a better answer soon :)

Whoever has prescribed the neocate is best placed to answer your question, Tiny.

Just phone them.

Alternatively there may be a helpline no. on the pack of neocate.
