Baby BSL's last feed went something like this today:

Feed for 3 seconds
Pause to tell mummy a story
Feed for 3 seconds
Pause to bum shuffle
Feed for 3 seconds
Pause to continue story to mummy
Feed for 3 seconds
Pause to test out workmanship on arm of chair with vigorous kicks
Get upset with mummy assuming feed over & attempting to sit me up
And repeat....

Disclaimer: have never actually wrestled baby elephant

Anyone with similar experiences have any tips?

No tips but dd is also 7 months and we definitely have the same problem, dd's last feed went something like this:

Feed for a couple of mins
Grin at mummy
Feed for a minute
Turn head to look at brother whilst still attached - ouch!
Feed for a minute
Knock tv remote off arm of chair
Feed for a minute
Grin at brother
Get cross because I put boob away!

And repeat....

I tried feeding in the bedroom yesterday so there were less distractions but she spent most of the time grinning at the yoda shaped backpack hanging on the back of the door! :)

DD2 (9.5mo) today

Feed
Suck on own foot
Feed while pushing legs backwards to see if anyone is behind Mummy
Look at computer and do some typing
Feed
Giggle with DD1
Feed
Stop feeding and watch TV for a bit until Mummy puts boob away then remember that she does actually want to feed again.

etc.

It's the fun of trying to feed an older baby. I can't imagine how hard it is to feed a toddler! Sorry no tips just sympathy.

My DD was like this a lot at 6m but now at ten months she eats.more and has fewer feeds so is more keen to have them Haha

LittleWaveyLines · 31/03/2012 20:25

Oooh yes very familiar! Grin

She also likes to roll my breast and areolae skin between her fingers = the chinese burn of pinching - ouch!

LittleWaveyLines · 31/03/2012 20:26

Oh and no tips sorry, although I am trying to introduce a taggy blanket to save me from the pinchy rolling...

This morning's feed consisted of attempting to persuade 2yo ds that he could either bf or play with his kitten....

Mombojombo · 31/03/2012 20:31

I've called DS an excitable badger a few times this week, he's 6.5 months so maybe in a month's time he'll be more baby elephantine! Random sample:

Feed for 1 min
Grab mama's necklace and thrash it up and down herr neck
Feed for 1 min while digging thumb nail into side of boob
Laugh at mama, dribbling milk in the process
Feed for 1 min
Pull off suddenly & cry as jet of milk shoots in eye
Feed for 1 min while trying to get foot AND thumb in mouth too
Feed for 1 min. Scratch mama's face and neck repeatedly while laughing maniacally

too true!!!!

showtunesgirl · 31/03/2012 20:55

Had a feed like this earlier with 18 w/o DD.

Suck suck.
Come off to grin at me.
Suck suck.
Come off to grin at me.
Suck suck. Letdown.
Come off to grin and me and gets showered in milk.

Yes dear, it's nice you want to smile at me but it's not going to get you fed!
