9 day old BF baby - poo!! Advice please!

Hi there, I am Breastfeeding my beautiful DD2, she is only 9 days old. I was wondering if it's normal for her to do a poo at every feed, she does seem to have turned into a little poo machine since yesterday. Sometimes it's just a stinky little poo smudge, other times it's a big yellow mess, but always very smelly!

I never managed to bf DD1 so this is new territory for me, any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you!!

Totally normal - some babies poo all the time and others save it up for one big poo! At 9 days you should be getting at least 2 poos a day.

Oh thank you! Honestly, I can't believe how often she goes. DD1 was constipated at this stage and only used to do one a day, they were quite spectacular though..

Am off to do yet another nappy Smile thanks again.

Perfectly normal for a bf baby. My DC1 was exactly the same and at one point we were using 10 nappies a day!

Congratulations on your new DD too Smile.

Mine varied between almost every hour to only once every 3 days! They didn't smell though. BF baby poo tends to smell kind of sweet compared to FF baby poo.

Have you read this on Kellymom twojumping? It should help to reassure you Smile.

Thanks for advice and the link too - it's reassuring to know we are on track (ish). Must admit the poos are stinky though, same smell every time. Not like a big grandad plop but enough to make DD1 who is 4 comment on it. She is very interested in poo at the mo though..

Glad to hear that I'm not the only only one with the constant nappy changes. Last night she had four poos in a couple of hours, all small ones, I was beginning to wonder if she was okay. Am sure I'll get used to it soon is just to different from DD1 (in a good way).
