made the mistake of getting dd2 weighed yesterday she had put on 8 oz in 4 wks. but has not put me off b/f but do want to try and encourage dd2 to feed a bit more, she's just not very interested she usually has about 5 feeds a day and i try and get her to take from both breasts. She feeds 2 or 3 times in night. She either gets distracted or cries when i offer boob. Sometimes it wind i think. Any ideas i just want some encouragement really and you dont get much from the hv's do you.
I express to keep up with feeds if she's really not interested, she's mostly content and fine just sometimes a bt restless and whingy but boob doesn't help her.

Many babies get to be very efficient feeders, and get as much as they need very quickly. As long as she's generally content then she's fine.

I never found it necessary to offer both breasts at one feed, one side a time was sufficient for dd. Maybe your baby is the same.

I agree with WWB about only taking one side. My ds is a BIG eater and still will generally only take one side at a time.
He's at that satge where he gets really distracted too, he tends not to want to feed much during the day. I find it easiest to feed him when he's sleepy. So night time is a big feed time for him and if he wakes a bit during a nap in the day I can usually get him to take a bit then as well.
