I've already posted in sleep about my DS and his appalling sleep during a cold/bout of teething. I'm also worried about his milk intake...

he's alway been a very quick feeder but while his solid intake hasn't increased, he's definitely cutting down on milk and I fear he may be making up for it at night - reverse cycling maybe?

Last few days he's had 5 mins in morning, 2-3 min snacks mid morning and mid afternoon, and just 5 mins at bedtime (until recently was 10-15 mins). He is having about 2-3 fairly good feeds durning th night, 3-5mins each.

He used to get quite sleepy during bedtime feeds, and go down awake but self settle beautifully? Now he unlatches, is hyper and wants to play and then screams when I put him anywhere near my nipple or his cot. And once he's upset, not a hope in hell of getting him to feed. I'm currently expressing after he drops off about 100-150 ml to keep up evening supply in case he returns to normal - any point?

Anyway in short, is not full on nursing strike bug how can I encourage him to feed more during day and less and night?! I feel a bit rejected... He'll happily take a cup when he's refusing me, although I don't often offer ad he's never had a bottle.

Thanks all

Watching with interest as you've just described my 9mo exactly. Apart from the self settling bit, he's never done that!

If you feel he is having a minor nursing strick you could try some of the tips hear

Plus just a point I know all baby's are different but how much solids is he taking. If he's taking not enough milk and to much solids in the day then he will wake for more milk at night. Try offering milk feeds before solids they should only be having 2-3 solid feeds a day at this age and no snaks. Remeber milk should be there main source of food untill at lest one.

hmmmmm this is also my 9mo exactly! I've tried and tried to get more milk into her during the day but to no avail. I was hoping she'd drop her night feeds not her day ones Confused

Ugh its horrible isn't it. Sorry to hear you are both in the same position but glad to hear its not that unusual!

Thanks for the links, MigGril - he certainly is distractible, I guess there is always something more interesting to be doing!
