DS is 14 months and has 2-3 feeds a day, sometimes one in the night. I have started training as a nurse and might have to do the odd late shift which will mean missing his bedtime feed. It wont be every week and when it is it will only be 1-2 times in a week. Will milk supply be ok? I am also worried about him going to bed cos he is so used to me feeding him and reading him a story at bedtime! Porbably worrying too much, just need reassurance pls!!!

I think your milk will be fine. I remember mine went up and down witht feeds iyswim
You are so lucky still feeding at 14 months

Really won't be a problem I think (ds is 14 months) I only feed ds on the days I am home. I work 3 days a week and do 2 feeds on those days. On my days at home it is more like 2-4 feeds. I started doing this at 11 months and had no supply problems. Ds was comfortably on solids by then though.

He may miss the feeds a bit but he now understands that only mummy gives breastmilk. If you can get dh or someone else to put him to bed sometimes he will soon learn that when you are not putting him to bed, breastmilk is off the menu so to speak. If you do this before starting work that may make it easier for you when you start. (NB - when you are home you can still bf ds earlier in the evening but let dh/another person do the rest of the routine sometimes so he gets used to going to sleep without the breastfeed just before bed).

I'm doing the same as lazycow - 2 feeds on work days, 3 on non-work days (and recently, 4 feeds when ds has been ill). I work on Tues, Weds and Thurs and am still ok to give the extra feed on Fridays. By now your supply will be well established so you should be fine. Good luck with your course!

Beansprout - I also work Tues, Weds and Thurs. Not a poular combination normally.

Anyway don't want to hijack the thread
