Red patch on boob, temperature, lumpy sore boob.

I know what it is. And I don't want it!

hunkermunker, I got really good advice from motherinferior when I had this when feeding DS3. Get a comb and some olive oil, and comb the lump in the direction of the nipple - I know it sounds funny but it really helped.

glad to hear things are improving HM. I have a blocked duct in each boob atm and it is damn painful. Am trying to stick to one side once a day with 15mo ds to make my periods come back (in order to ttc), so can't even feed through it. I do like the idea of afro-combing the lumpiness though .

Thanks, Dino - yes, have been combing my boob today. The things we do... Am still laughing at the way DS2 just opened his mouth when I dangled my nork from above - he's an accommodating little chap

THanks, VVV - and everyone. Have been taking ibuprofen and paracetamol and do feel much better than I did last night.

Really useful tip I found somewhereorother on the interweb: for a hot compress, instead of a flannel, use a disposable nappy. I found it easiest to run hot water into a sink, turn the nappy inside out and dunk it (so the outside didn't get wet) It fills up with hot water and retains the heat much longer than a flannel. Hope it keeps getting better!

Glad to hear you're feeling better, HM. Yes, he still sometimes believes in my extra hidden boobs.

Lately, he's been enjoying random switching back and forth between breasts, complete with conversations with my breasts, presumably about the milk? Sometimes he laughs. He also blows "foofs" on my breasts, as part of the breastfeeding process. I don't know if he's forgetting to suck? I think he may just be joking about, really.

The switching is very weird, he will do 30 seconds, 5 seconds, 5 minutes. It's all fine, except for when he bites, which he does randomly. Sometimes he bites hard, but not for long, when he latches on. Sometimes he bites down, and pulls back, to see what will happen. He's not biting as hard as he could at any point, but it's still a bit tiresome.

sorry to read this hunker, hope you're feeling better HC xx

TambaTheTemptress · 30/01/2006 10:02

How you feeling Hunker?

CarolinaMoon · 30/01/2006 12:24

thanks HM . Thought you might be amused to know ds managed to remove one of the blockages himself by twiddling it while feeding . Shame you can't train newborns to do that.

Have yours calmed down yet?

TambaTheTemptress · 30/01/2006 20:46

.

hunkermunker · 31/01/2006 00:59

LOL CM - hope you're feeling better now. DS2 not up to twiddling really...!

Am feeling much better today - have done much in the way of acrobatic feeding positions, massage, combing, heat and swearing (under my breath).

DS2 seems to grow before my eyes, so no wonder my norks have gone a bit mental
