engorged breast and alternating sides confusion

My 5do is feeding well but I've got a really painful right breast - hard and engorged. It was like this when I last fed him (on that side) and the feed really helped - but now it is 3hrs later and I don't know if I should give the same time (to help relieve it) or whether I should continue to try to alternate sides with each feed (which is what I've been doing?)

Obviously this has to happen in the early hours, not when any bf helpline is open!

TIA

How is the other side? Would it feel sore and engorged if ou didn't feed from it now?
How long until the next feed?
Personally I would feed from the sore side again, as often as possible. But watch tr other side carefully.

The other side isnt' engorged right now - an hour max to next feed - I'll try him again on the sore side then- thanks!
Was worried that might just lead to more milk being made that side but guess this is just for anoher day or so...

I'd def feed from sore side first, then try other side to. Also have a warm bath, hold flannel on, gentle massage. Laying facing down in the water is quite relieving if possible.

I'd try and get your baby to feed frequently to day to help clear any blockages.

Thanks - will do! Gosh so grateful to get speedy responses to this!

I always get a larger right breast, it may just be that this is baby's favourite boob and therefore it'll be producing more on demand. It should sort itself out eventually but I always try and alternate, unless there is a huge difference in size that is! If you do prioritise the right breast then only do so occasionally otherwise the left could fall behind, which is what happened to me a couple of weeks ago and then the left one ended up huge as well!
