B/F Baby with temperature - do I need to give water

Hi, dd2 had her Hib yesterday and has had a high temperature ever since. She's doing very very wet nappies and obviously loosing a lot of fluid - should I supplement my breast feeding with water? Will my breast feeding be enough? Her fontenel is not very big but seems slightly indented hence why I'm worrying. She's 12.5 weeks

Keep offering b'feeds - she will take more if she is thirsty, either in quantity or frequency. Wet nappies are a good sign that she is not dehydrated. I found the fontanelle thing difficult to judge because I never studied it except when they seemed ill.

Check the fontanelle when she is lying down not sitting up as it will dip naturally anyway. I've always heard the water for a b/f baby is not necessary and can lead to a sodium inbalance. Hope she feels better soon.

Give her calpol for her temp and extra breastfeeds. No need for water. Hope she is better soon.
