Why do I still get sore nipples on and off at 6mo?

As per the title really....

I'm 6 months onto ebf DC2 now. Tongue tie sorted at 2 weeks, weaned off nipple shields at about 3 months (well, just stopped using them one day and never looked back)
At the moment it's the right one which is really REALLY sore, i.e. dreading feeding sore, especially during latch-on. Even when not feeding it feels sore and a bit burny, but no sign of any damage or thrush.

I have had this before. One day it will just stop hurting and then maybe the other side will start hurting for a couple of weeks.

What's going on, dear mumsnetters?

Is lo teething? Or feeding more than usual? My dd is 6mo and I get the occasional soreness, not agonising just where she's sucked a bit too much! Maybe use a bit of cream lan- something its called, or use a bit of ur milk to rub on ur nipple then air dry, I done this in the first few weeks and it worked quicker than the creams. Other than that then make sure ur not showing signs of matsitis I think that may cause soreness but don't quote me.

Ooh thanks - will try the milk thingy - never thought of that.

No teeth visible and feeding just as normal really.

No fluey symptoms but did have what felt like a blocked duct (v hot, hard sore area), "opposite" the sore bit the other day but it was sore before that IYSWIM.
