what should a 10MO be eating in a day?

DD currently has:
Morning breast feed followed by toast or cereal an hour later.
Then mid morning breast feed.
Then a lunch, (ie. pasta, or sandwiches, with yoghurt/fruit)
The mid arvo breastfeed.
Then Dinner, (ie. fishpie/spag bol with yoghurt/fruit)
Then breast feed before bed.

Does seem about right?

I am wanting to move away from breast feeding onto a sippy cup and so am dropping the mid arvo and mid morning breast feeds soon, replacing with a beaker. I know she will take less milk so should I also introduce some kind of snack to go with this?

Thanks for your help!

Seems a lot of milk feeds to me - my DS is just 11m and has a morning and night BF, three meals and two snacks - so the same frequency of feeds, just in different format. As far as I can remember, they're supposed to be getting about 600ml milk, (but obv difficult to tell with BFing), but dairy products contribute to that (and cheese is a massively condensed version of that).

Thanks. I want to decrease the milk. What do you offer as snacks? should it be dairy/fruit? and do you give them mid morning and mid afternoon?

Yes, mid-morning and mid-afternoon. DS has raisins or blueberries and a plain biscuit or breadstick for one snack, and a banana for the other normally - or lumps of cheese if he's still hungry (which he invariably is)

Thanks. And do you offer milk to drink in a beaker at the same time?

No. My little bugger of a boobmonster DS won't take milk in any shape or form except BF, so just a drink of water in a beaker with spout.

Thanks Flubba. Also have a boobmonster this end! are you still feeding in the night? people are warning me that if i drop these feeds she may wake more in the night.

Dd is ff, but has the same number of milk feeds as op describes, plus lots of solid food.

I dropped the 'dream' feed about a month ago, and his morning feed is at 4:40 Shock but he goes back to sleep until half six or seven.

Ok, thanks. I am trying to night wean at the moment, and last night DD slept until 3am when DP went in to settle her (took 2 hours Shock and lots of crying :( ) Maybe I should let her have one feed after 3am. I did feel a bit mean last night, but have been driven to night weaning as she started waking every 2 hours wanting to feed. Thanks for your help Flubba :)
