Vinegary smelling poo - EBF - any ideas why?

DD 6 weeks old and last night had the most vinegary smelling dirty nappy! It smelt like someone had poured a bottle of vinegar in her nappy! It's also green!

Can anyone Suggest why this is?

I'm suffering with some sort of throat infection at the mo and think she may have had something similar! Cold maybe? All im taking is paracetamol! Could it be my diet? Can't think of anything that I may of eaten that could make it smell like vinegar!

So confussed!!

It can be a sign of reflux (though not a definite way of diagnosing it) so if she has any of the signs of that, that may explain it.

Or it could be that she has an infection (cold, etc) and that has triggered it.

We have wondered whether she has reflux and we've tried gaviscon but didn't work! So have been given ranitidine for DD but I'm not quite sure if its fixing the problem! It's so difficult to get it in!

Oops hadn't quite finished and pressed post!

It's wasn't so vinegary this morning and was yellow!

I do wonder whether it's colic more than reflux!

DS had this and had reflux. However also happened if he had a cold too!
Colic is really just unexplained crying which can be caused by reflux/overstored or overstimulating. Or intolerant or an overactive letdown (boobs shoot out milk, baby can struggle and take down loads of air).
DD is showing similar signs (she's 4 weeks) and I've noticed the odd smelly poo.

What problems are you having?

Have a very fast let down which I'm convinced this is what causes her to have wind! She is becoming alot more Better at

Cont.....

It but still is a little overwhelmed by the flow! I don't think she has reflux tbh as she hardly brings up any milk! It's so confussing! One min I would think she does and the next I don't think it is! We had 2 weeks of her being very unsettled which started at 4 weeks but I have noticed she is alot more settled now! It's just the vinegary smell! Something must be causing it!

My DS's poo smelt of vinegar until he was weaned. I still don't know why! He's very healthy though :)

DS had reflux but no severe vomiting (silent reflux) which continued until toddlerhood (he'd get acid coming up after eating certain foods). The wriggling from the acid can seem like they've got wind (but the cle is nothing comes out)
