What else can I try to unblock my boob?!

Had blocked ducts on Sunday but sorted it all out. Or thought I had at least. Noticed my boob was feeling hard again last night. Since then have tried:
hot shower
hot bath
massage
combing
feeding
feeding in different positions
sticking needles in my nipple
and expressing
I can hardly get any milk out and it seems LO can't either as she's getting very grumpy on that side. Mind you she's a bit grumpy on the other side too. I think she might be teething. Anyway, my boob is still hard and blocked and I really don't want to end up with mastitis at Christmas!

What, oh what, else can I try?!

Sticking needles? Really? That sounds dangerous, I would persevere with gently massing your breast in a warm bath. Is there a breastfeeding counsellor/ cafe/ gp you could talk to? But no needles please!

This thread might help

Put a savoy cabbage leaf in your bra. Seriously. And don't even think about needles.

Yep, just to unblock the blocked bit and it was sterilised. It's worked before but not this time. Can't have a bath as there's no one else to look after the baby. Thanks for the link to the other thread but I already read that before posting mine. Although I will keep an eye on it. And I'll try the cabbage if I can get out to buy one!

Of course you can have a bath. Put the baby in her cot while you do it!

talkingnonsense · 15/12/2011 11:28

Put baby in bath with you! Yummy.

WombOnTheBroom · 15/12/2011 15:33

Or put baby in chair in bathroom with you if you don't want to leave her but can't manage a slippery baby on your own in the bath (I never can but my two are wrigglers). Have you tried hot compresses (flannels) on the affected boob?

3become4 · 15/12/2011 19:29

Had a bath and compresses too ta. Now onto the hot water bottle. And DH is making me a hot curry Confused

HAnd expressing

I always found a shower whilst leanings forward and combing the affected boob worked

I know you have tried it, but maybe again?

Also try getting baby to feed so their chin is on the lump and as their jaw works as they feed it can massage the blockage

You may be in a undignified position Grin

Thanks but tried it all! Think it's slowly getting better. Or hope it is!
