Breast fed baby with explosive poos! HELP please!

Hi

My DD2 is 3 months old but has been suffering from explosive poos since she was born. I'm not sure what I'm doing or eating that may be causing this. Or is this normal for a breast fed baby?

DD2's poos are yellow but are quite runny rather than cottage cheese like....what does this mean? I feel like I am forever changing her clothes after a leak disaster! She's gaining weight well and has even gone up a percentile (now on the 75th) for weight so I know that she's getting enough milk...

Should I take her to the doctors?

Please help! I never had this with DD1...

Thank you

Oooooh yeahhh, DS sprayed the kitchen in front of our first guests when we got him home, loves squirting across public changing rooms, fires at my hands while I'm changing him, so no, you're not alone!

I now have a lightning quick method where new and old nappy are exchanged before he gets a chance. Get the new nappy unfolded and ready to go before everyhing else. Use the old nappy to wipe up the worst off his bum, then fold it over under his bum to catch any wanton spraying, then super quickly swap old for new.

collie we have a big yellow stain on the wall opposite the changing table (maybe 5 feet away) from one of those explosive poos Xmas Grin

I have to say that cloth doesn't contain my baby's poos any better than disposable do. Did you know the envelope openings mean you can pull the onesie down off the baby instead of peeling it off over the head thus not getting poo in the hair? A revelation.

rillablythe out of interest which cloth nappies do you use?

all my 3dc did this, i can remember babygro's where the whole of the feet were full up with poo. twas charming. and they always seemed to manage it when we were out shopping, or travelling somewhere. i just got in the habit of taking tons of spare clothes everywhere i went. they grew out of it around 6 months. (with dc2 and dc 3 i twigged that it was definitely better if i didn't drink too much milk... didn't stop it completely, but if i had a latte then breastfed it was guaranteed to cause a disaster)

Nanny - a mix of prefolds, bamboo terries, Totsbots & Motherease. Generally the prefolds.

agh..... have to say having used so so so many cloth nappies (10 years of nannying and having over 150 nappies for my own baby) pre-folds have leaked for me more than any other cloth nappy

(I dont own any prefolds for my baby because of the leaks i have delt with with my charges!!!!)

a good cloth nappy is only as good as the wrap its within!
