Growth spurt or personality transplant??

DD will be 4 weeks tomorrow. Today she has been on the breast pretty much non-stop. She used to sleep between feeds, now she sleeps a bit (30-45min) and then wants feeding again. Feeds are 45min-90 min apart and she is screaming if I don't feed her (we had to go out earlier and she screamed bloody murder even though she had just fed!). My brain says growth spurt but my wobbly side fears that she's changed overnight! Any advice/experience?

Oh, poor you! My DS went through a hideous growth spurt at about 6 weeks and am afraid it lasted for about a week, maybe more I have blocked it out. He fed, screamed, dozed (on me only), then fed and screamed some more. I was a broken woman! If someone had told me I could leave him with them and go back to work I think I might have. Then, as quickly as it arrived it passed. I remember the HV was shocked when he was weighed and had put some crazy amount on that week. I on the other hand had lost about half a stone despite surviving on chocolate and kettle chips. In the end I resigned myself to it and had days on the sofa with DVD boxed sets and lots of skin to skin.

Hope you get through it soon!

Good to hear it was just a growth spurt! I'm fine if it is one, though am really hoping it doesn't last all day AND night!!

With me he started upping his day feeds till they almost ran in to each other. I did two days on sofa (skin to skin!) on advice of BF peer supporter. On day 3 i followed HV advice and took him out "to distract him" & he screamed blue murder the entire time. That made me realise there was nothing I could do but sit it out, so I reverted back to the sofa! For the last 2 or 3 days he upped the night feeds too. At the time I remember thinking I couldn't survive another day! And then the little monkey started smiling for the first time & all was forgiven!
