Baby distressed breastfeeding in public

My breastfed 12 week old DD gets quite distressed when I try to feed her in unfamiliar surroundings. She feeds well at home, but if I feed in someone else's house, a cafe, the car etc she pulls off frequently & usually starts crying. Any tips? It seems to be distress, rather than she's not feeding well due to curiosity about what's around her. I don't mind feeding out of the house, so she's not picking up on my stress.

Wasn't sure if best tactic is to feed her out & about more often so she gets used to it, or to restict feeding to home for the time being?

Have you tried using a shawl or something to cover her?
If she is unable to see anything other than you, she might feel calmer.
